Bird Control in London

At EcoCare, our bird control in London combines the latest pest management technology with humane removal methods. We protect your buildings from damage and from the insects that nests attract, and we can install birdproofing to deter birds from coming back.
While we love to see our fellow city dwellers soaring through the air, birds can become a real nuisance once they land on our roofs. To complicate matters, all birds are protected by law, making it difficult to identify the right solution.

EcoCare's Bird Control Process (with Photos)
Akron House Courtyard
Day 1: Arrived on site after the scaffolding had been erected. Inspected the area that needed to be bird-spiked and netted. Using specialised adhesive, we glued bird spikes to the edge of the roof around the courtyard. We then installed wire and fixings to the guttering and brick wall, as shown in the photos.
Day 2: Arrived on site and allowed the scaffolders to remove sections of the scaffolding to give us access to complete the work. Once access was available, we jet-washed and disinfected the area. We then installed 50mm pigeon netting to the wires, ensuring there were no gaps for birds to get through. A piece of mesh was also attached to the bottom of each net to provide secure fixing points for the netting.

Bird Netting
Bird netting prevents species such as pigeons and gulls from accessing your site and nesting. By stopping nesting activity, it reduces the accumulation of bird guano and the associated health risks. We use polyethylene knotted bird netting that can withstand harsh weather and urban conditions. Available in a variety of colours, our bird netting provides discreet yet effective protection. Bird netting can be used in areas as canopies, balconies, roofs, listed buildings, office buildings, car parks, stadiums, and worksites.
Bird Spikes
Bird spikes offer an effective and humane way to deter birds in urban environments. This method uses upward-pointing spikes or wires to prevent birds from landing or roosting without causing them harm. We offer different designs tailored to your needs, including stronger spikes to prevent pigeons from landing. Bird spikes can be installed on nearly any surface, including rooflines, ledges, fences, signs, solar panels, air conditioning units, and CCTV cameras.
Bird Wire
Bird wire is a barely visible bird deterrent, with steel springs and wires fixed between pillars on outside surfaces. This cost-effective, discreet solution is a humane bird deterrent and especially suited for new buildings where birds haven’t yet established nesting sites. Its subtle appearance makes bird wire ideal for glass-fronted buildings and windows, as well as new builds, beams, pipes, signs and ledges.
Bird Nest Removal
Removing bird nests requires specialised expertise. Bird nests are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and some birds are given additional protection from disturbance. It is therefore an offence to remove any birds without a licence, with a maximum fine of £5,000 and a potential 6-month prison term. Licences can be granted if the nest poses risks to public health and safety, flight safety, or property damage, or if it spreads disease. Our BPCA-certified technicians are experienced in handling licensing authorities to obtain permits on your behalf, ensuring nest removal across London is carried out quickly and safely.
Additional solutions

Got Bird Questions?

What services do Ecocare provide?

Services include installing bird spikes, netting, and bird wire, removing nests legally, and setting up acoustic bird-scaring systems. We tailor solutions for both residential and commercial properties, ensuring minimal disruption. Why is bird control necessary?
Bird control is necessary to prevent birds from causing disturbances, defacing properties, and spreading diseases. Without effective bird control, buildings face bird droppings, noise, blocked drainage, and nesting damage. These issues are especially problematic for commercial property, where bird problems can harm reputation and safety. Addressing these concerns early helps maintain property value, avoid legal complications, and ensure a safe, clean environment.
What are the health and structural risks from birds?
Birds pose serious health and structural risks. Their droppings spread diseases like Salmonella, E. coli, and fungal infections. Nests attract pests such as mites, ticks, and fleas. Structurally, birds can block ventilation and drainage systems, leading to water damage, fire hazards, and costly repairs. Bird guano is also acidic, degrading building materials over time. Professional bird control in London is vital to mitigate these threats and protect your property.
What bird proofing methods are available?
EcoCare provides several bird proofing methods, including bird netting to stop access to nesting sites, bird spikes to prevent roosting, and bird wire for discreet protection. These effective solutions can be installed on various surfaces—balconies, rooftops, signs, and solar panels—to prevent birds from landing or nesting. Each method complies with legal regulations and is customised for different building types, especially commercial properties.
What deterrents are used to prevent birds from nesting?
To prevent birds from nesting, EcoCare uses bird spikes, bird netting, bird wire, and acoustic scaring systems. These effective bird control tools discourage landing and nesting without harming the birds. For more persistent bird problems, licensed bird removal is carried out legally. These deterrents ensure long-term protection for your commercial property, reducing the impact of bird droppings, noise, and structural damage.
